Dominion wants us to feel hopeless. They want us to think nothing can be done.

Your voice matters. Join us at community meetings and ensure your opinions on the project are heard and your concerns addressed.

Contact your Board of Supervisors representative (Stafford, Caroline, Spotsylvania, Fauquier)

Let them know how you feel about the Kraken Loop project. Describe how the project will affect you and your neighbors. Ask questions. Here are some examples of questions you might ask:

  • How can you help get the Kraken loop line buried? How will I benefit from the project if I’m on NOVEC power?
  • When the right of ways were purchased, Stafford had just 20,000 people. Today it has over 160,000. Fifty years ago these easements would have caused much less disruption to the community, which is why our community agreed to it. Those who sold right of ways never imagined 170 foot poles crossing school playing fields and backyards. Dominion has waited half a century years to act, knowing it will cause disruptions never conceived of in the 1970s. What will you do as a Supervisor to help mitigate the effects of the Kraken on our now busy, vibrant community?
  • Why is Dominion receiving special treatment for The Kraken when other power companies were required to bury their lines as neighborhood were formed?
  • Can you guarantee the safety of my children from childhood leukemia when they attend MVHS, RTMS, and MBES?
  • Dominion Power is well known for failing to maintain its power lines, which is why it has so many long residential power outages. What has changed with Dominion’s business operations to indicate they can be trusted to maintain 70 more miles of infrastructure when they can’t properly maintain what they have now? Why does the county or commonwealth trust Dominion now?
  • When is the next hearing on the subject?
  • Dominion Power has a poor credit rating, including a negative credit rating from Moody’s. Why should we trust them to have the capital or financial ability to complete such a massive project when other smaller projects are failing?
  • Dominion Energy has a D- rating from World Benchmarking Alliance. Why should we trust them to accomplish such a massive project?
  • How much will my property value decrease as a result of Dominion’s effort to power AI? How much will the county increase taxes to offset declines in tax revenues due to this project?
  • I am on NOVEC power, and the Kraken affects me. How will I benefit from this project?
  • My children attend school at Mountain View High School, Margaret Brent Elementary, or Rodney Thompson Middle School. According to the US government’s website, EMFs from high voltage lines of the type in the Kraken Loop are associated with an increase in childhood leukemia. What are you doing to protect my children from EMF radiation?
  • 500kw monopoles are noisy. They emit a constant hum. How will this affect our wildlife, like eagles, red foxes, deer, cranes, and box turtles? How will our children be affected as this constant hum infiltrates their schools and playing fields?
  • Why are we building power lines to support not-yet-extant data centers when experts say that cancellations for data centers “show much of the forecasted load is speculative?”
  • Virginians already pay $13,000 per year per household to receive electricity to their homes. How much more will we pay for Dominion to enrich itself on AI?

Register on GeoView, Dominion’s public map of the project

Locate your property, your church, your school, your park, and the areas in the county you visit. How will the power lines affect you and others who use those spaces? Are you less than 1800 feet from the poles? Did you know that childhood leukemia is one of the risks of spending time near these poles? https://geovoice.wsp.com/dominion/KrakenLoop/

If you comment, don’t be rude. Dominion Power employees are people, too. Be civil.
